How Magellan Clinical Consultants handles the information you share with us through this website.

Magellan Clinical Consultants ("Magellan," "we," "us") respects the privacy of everyone who visits this website or contacts us. This policy explains what we collect through magellanclinical.com, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
1. What this policy covers
This policy covers information collected through this website and through inquiries you send us using the contact form or by email. It does not cover information exchanged after an engagement begins — that is governed by your written client agreement with us and by the confidentiality obligations described in Section 8.
2. Information you give us
When you submit the contact form, we ask for:
- Your first and last name
- Your email address
- Your phone number, if you choose to provide it
- The category that describes you (for example, an individual or family member, an executive, a financial advisor or family office, or a physician)
- How soon you need help
- A short message describing what you are trying to decide
You may also send us information directly by email or by telephone.
Please do not send health information through this website
The contact form is deliberately brief. We ask you not to enter medical records, test results, imaging, pathology, diagnoses, medication lists or other detailed health information into it. A website form is not the right channel for that material. Once we speak, we will arrange a secure way to review anything clinical.
If you do send us health information anyway, we treat it as confidential and handle it under this policy — but we would rather you did not.
3. Information collected automatically
Our hosting provider records standard technical information when a page is requested, including IP address, browser type, the pages requested, and the time of the request. This is used to operate and secure the site. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not track you across other websites.
This site loads typefaces from Google Fonts. When it does, your browser contacts Google's servers, which may log your IP address. That interaction is governed by Google's own privacy policy.

- To respond to your inquiry and arrange an initial conversation
- To determine whether and how we can help, and to tell you honestly if we cannot
- To provide advisory, research and care-navigation services if you become a client
- To operate, secure and improve this website
- To comply with law and to establish or defend legal claims
We do not use your information to build advertising profiles, and we do not make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
5. We do not sell your information
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not accept payment from hospitals, physician groups, laboratories, insurers or any other party in exchange for referring you or for introducing your information to them. Our independence is the service, and that includes what happens to your data.
6. Who we share information with
We share your information only in these circumstances:
- Service providers who help us operate — our website host, which processes contact-form submissions, and our email provider, which delivers and stores our correspondence. They act on our instructions and may not use your information for their own purposes.
- At your direction. If you become a client and ask us to approach a physician, institution or other professional on your behalf, we share what is necessary to do so — and only what is necessary.
- Professional advisors bound by confidentiality, such as our own counsel.
- When the law requires it, or to protect the rights or safety of a person.
7. How long we keep it
Inquiries that do not lead to an engagement are kept only as long as needed to respond and to maintain a record of the contact, then deleted. Client records are kept for the duration of the engagement and for a reasonable period afterward, consistent with our professional and legal obligations. You may ask us to delete an inquiry at any time.
8. Confidentiality
Discretion is central to this work. Client information is treated as confidential and is disclosed only as described above or as you instruct. Where a client is a public figure, an executive, or a member of a family whose affairs are sensitive, we take additional care to limit who inside and outside our firm knows what.
9. A note about HIPAA
People often assume that anything touching healthcare is governed by HIPAA. That is not quite right. HIPAA applies to "covered entities" — health plans, healthcare clearinghouses, and healthcare providers who transmit health information electronically for certain transactions — and to their business associates.
Magellan Clinical Consultants provides independent advisory, research and navigation services. We are not your health plan, we do not bill insurance, and we do not provide medical treatment. We therefore do not generally operate as a HIPAA covered entity. That does not lower the standard we hold ourselves to: we treat everything you share as confidential regardless of which statute happens to apply.
Your treating physicians and hospitals are covered entities. When we request records from them on your behalf, you will be asked to sign an authorization allowing them to release those records to us.
10. Security
This site is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Access to inquiries and client information is limited to people who need it. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security — which is another reason we ask you to keep clinical detail off the web form.
11. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to obtain a copy of it, and to appeal a refusal. Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and a number of other states have these rights by statute; we extend them to everyone who asks.
We do not discriminate against anyone for exercising these rights. To make a request, email info@magellanclinical.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting, and we will respond within the time the applicable law allows.
You can also simply ask us to stop contacting you, and we will.
12. Children
This website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through this site. We do, as part of our advisory work, help families with complex-care pediatrics — in those cases information about a child is provided by a parent or guardian in the course of an engagement, not collected through this website.
13. Links to other sites
Some pages link to hospitals, medical centers and physician profiles for reference. Those sites have their own privacy practices, and we are not responsible for them.
14. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be noted clearly.
